With the digital switch-over now happening all across the UK, now's the time to update to the latest Freeview receiver on the market.
For not much more than a standard Freeview box you can purchase the Rimax TDT 9500 Receiver which is not only a standard Freeview receiver but it can also record programs!
Unlike more expensive digital recorders, the Rimax TDT 9500 Recorder does not contain an internal hard drive. Rather, it has a USB output port through which you can attach a recording device of your choice.
The first option is to connect an external hard drive through the USB port on the rear of the unit or, if you prefer, a USB Memory Stick. You can utilise the SD / MMC card slot on the front of the unit to play back programs from the card. You are thus able to record any program of your choice for playback at a later date.
Another great advantage of the Rimax TDT 9500 Recorder are the dual SCART connectors on the rear of the unit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. What external Hard Drive would you recommend?
Rimax recommends using a Hard Drive with a single partition, FAT32 format and no larger than 100GB. The system works easiest when recording to a USB pendrive.
Q. Am I correct in thinking that you can only read files from the SD / MMC memory cards, not record onto them? Yes, that is correct. The Rimax TDT 9500 is not able to record onto memory card. It can read their contents though. All program recording must be done to a USB device. Of course, all programs recorded on the USB device can be played back.
