Many people who purchase an Audio Video Sender would like to send the signal from their TV/Video source to more than one remote television. With the single additional receiver from Rimax, this is now possible. By utilising the complete kit plus this additional receiver, you can send the same signal to two remote televisions. Of course it doesn't have to stop at two. The more televisions you have in your home, the more receivers you can purchase.

Please note that this product is only compatible with systems operating on the 5.8GHz frequency. It will not work with the inferior 2.4GHz systems.

Contents

  • Receiver
  • Audio Video Cables x 1 - Mini-Jack to SCART
  • Power adapters x 1

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Can you explain the difference between this 5.8GHz model and the other models I see that are 2.4GHz?
The older 2.4GHz models are likely to pick up interference from other wireless devices, especially Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) and cordless phones as both of these operate on the same 2.4GHz frequency. This would result in loss or interruption of the image and sound on the remote TV. Although the 5.8GHz model is slightly more expensive you would gain the benefit of not having to worry about external interference. This would result in a clear undisturbed picture and sound.

Q. We have a Virgin cable box at home. With other audio video senders it is not possible to change the channel from the remote location. Will the Rimax 5.8GHz model allow us to do this?
Each cable box is different. What you will need to do is check which frequency your remote control unit operates on. You should be able to find this information in the manual that was provided with the box. If the frequency is 433.92 MHz then it will be compatible.

Q. My son always has to unplug the wireless internet at home before he can use his audio video sender. If the Wi-Fi is left on he gets interference on the remote TV. This is rather annoying as I can’t connect to the internet if he is using the audio video sender. Is this because the audio video sender is a 2.4GHz one? Will your 5.8GHz product stop this happening?
Yes it will. The 2.4GHz models can suffer from interference from Wireless Internet whereas the 5.8GHz do not.

Q. We are experiencing 'ghosting' and poor signal reception on the remote TV. Everything had been working perfectly up to now. What could be causing this?
Check that the antennas on the Transmitter and Receiver haven't worked themselves loose. If they have, tighten them and this will resolve the problem.

Q. How long are the cables connecting the Transmitter and Receiver to the Sky/Freeview/Cable box and the remote TV?
Each cable is 1.5m (approximately 59 inches).

Q. I have a Freeview box in my lounge and want to watch the channels on the TV in my bedroom. However I also want to be able to change the channels on the Freeview box from my bedroom. I've read that many systems can't do this. Can you with the Rimax 5.8GHz Audio Video Sender?
Yes you can.

Q. Is this product compatible with HD Ready TVs?
The product will work with a HD Ready TV but you should be aware that HD images can only be transmitted through the HDMI port of your TV, not the SCART. Therefore you will receive the image and sound OK on the remote TV but it won't be in High Definition.

Q. Is it possible to watch two different TV channels on two different sets?
Yes it is. On your main TV you can watch a terrestrial channel through your normal aerial. If you have a Freeview/Sky/Cable box, this can be connected to the Audio Video Sender and the signal from this can be sent to a second TV. Therefore it is possible to watch two channels at the same time, one via your normal aerial and the other via your set-top box.

Q. I have a satellite receiver in the main room of my house and I want to send the signal from this to a TV in the kitchen and another in the bedroom. Is this possible with the Rimax Audio Video Sender?
Yes it is. The signal will be picked up by as many receivers you have in range. The Audio Video Sender comes with one receiver only so you will need to purchase additional set if you want the signal sent to more than one TV.

Q. I don't have cable or satellite TV but just receive the standard TV channels via an antenna on my roof (not Freeview). Will the Audio Video Sender still work in my house?
No, you need to have a Satellite receiver, Freeview or Cable box to use the Audio Video Sender.

Q. I have a Sky+ Box and have installed the 5.8GHz Audio Video Sender to connect to a TV in my bedroom. However, I am not getting any picture or sound on the remote TV but if I use my Sky remote control from the bedroom, the channel changes on the TV in my lounge. This tells me that the system is working OK but I have something wrong with my configuration.
Make sure that you have the Transmitter connected to the correct SCART output on your Sky+ box. You should have two SCART, one is TV and the other for VHS/DVD. You will need to connect to the TV SCART. It is more than likely you will need to use a SCART block to enable two devices to be connected to this SCART output.

Q. I have a Freeview box. Will the Audio Video Sender work with this?
Yes it will. It works with all Freeview boxes.

Q. I have installed the Audio Video Sender but I can't get either picture or sound. What is wrong?
Check that you have the correct leads in the transmitter and receiver. They are different and are labelled.
